Business intelligence systems, expanding data warehouses, and the growing demand for student information have increased the stakes for data custodians. Technology has changed the way we share and secure student data. How do we balance the need to share data more freely with the duty to protect our sensitive information? How is the role of the data custodian changing as the requirements for managing and distributing data increase? We will explore these challenges using the University of Michigan as a case study. Webinar participants will get an overview of the changing landscape around sharing student data. They will take away strategies for effectively sharing student data across campus, policy considerations, and options for administering security. Finally, participants will get an overview of the University of Michigan's "Next Generation" data warehouse strategy.
